Current ArtQuilts in progress. [16 Aug 2008|01:49pm]

[ music | Morten Herket- 'Can't take my eyes off you' ]

Managed to come up with a second entry for the Old Church Gallery Quilt Show and the Mountain Comforts XX Quilt Show, both in Oct. Both had been originally started several years ago, one really only needed the binding, then finish quilting to be complete, but like usual , I procrastinated on it. The other, needed everything, except the top made. Heh.

Quite a few pictures. Large. )

This is what boredom looks like... [15 Aug 2008|09:44pm]

What type of Fae are you?

Ok, I just really read this. The last line? Is very true.

Note to self- need new small sterling hoops. Especially since Chuck's new puppy ate one today. *sigh*

Spent the day at the In Laws- am feeding their cats while they are out of town- doing laundry, being chewed on, rubbed against by a kitten nose, licked to death by said kitten and generally having a 4 month old kitten glued to me. The 2 yr old cat generally ignored me, except to hiss at me. He hates most anyone except his 'own caretakers'.(Cause we all know cats can't be 'owned'. Heh) Except when I went outside to meet Chuck's new puppy, Ghengis. Yeah, she's a handful. A Burmese Mountain Dog mix, 5 months old, roughly. Apparently, that was the second earring she tried to eat, except she ate mine successfully. Pup has a bit of crow in her, likes the shiny stuff.

I have officially, 55.05 gigs worth of music on my external drive. I am loving my new 80gig Zune. And still have 24.77 gigs free. Yeah. That's 8690 songs. Nice for LONG road trips or train rides. Yup. It's also half the thickness of the 30gig and takes some getting used to, as it's lighter as well. But I'm liking it more than the original 30gig. No problems thus far setting it up exactly as I had the 30gig, complete with background photo of Dante-Inu.

Haven't written Chapter 5 to Blackblade Clan. Don't foresee meeting my 'every 2 weeks, post new Chapter' deadline, yet again. Haven't played Sims since last week. Haven't WANTED to.

Been watching Olympics and quilting like mad. Had a good idea as to something to do to make the Chinese Hanji on ArtQuilt Project 2 really stand out. Need to finish detail quilting first. Hopefully it'll work and not ruin the ArtQuilt.

Musings.. [13 Aug 2008|01:55pm]

[ mood | bored ]

Rue, (a Rex rabbit), needs her nails trimmed more than twice a month, judging by the 8" scratch on my right forearm when I was attempting said trimming. She was being a right pain in the ass today. There's also scratches on the backs of my hands from her, as well as the dustup resulting in one nail being trimmed too close to the quick and her bleeding. Argh. Usually she just lays there and let's me trim away. WTF, rabbit?

I think the blackberries and raspberries I tossed out the backdoor in early spring actually sprouted. No other way to explain sudden 4ft thorny brambles sprouting from that area. Hmm. Didn't actually think they'd sprout, otherwise, I'd have picked a way better spot.

It's cloudy today, so needs to hurry up and just rain already.

Luckily there's not a whole lot of quilting to do on the 2 pieces I want to enter into this fall's quilt shows. Especially since the drop off deadline for the first show is Sept. 22.

I put a box on the floor for Aries to sleep in if he wanted. He got to do so exactly twice. Max has since taken it over, as per usual.

I'm hungry but not sure what I want to eat. Heh.

Scarf sales have dropped off. There's still 3 Silver and 12 copper left. As well as the several 'Reserved Listings'. End of the month, I'm donating what I have, and will donate the rest whenever they sell I guess.

One of THOSE weeks... [12 Aug 2008|04:05pm]

wolfsilveroak
[ mood | annoyed ]

It appears, that despite initially registering, ie the computer recognizing that, yes, I have plugged in my device, when I tried to remove music from my 30gig Zune, it decided to go belly up.

Yup. It completely stopped responding.

When I tried all the troubleshooting tricks the website says, it still didn't work.

When I tried to submit a repair request, because that's what it says to do if you tried to reset the device and get a certain screen instead, the damn repair request website kept crashing.

When I tried calling Customer Service and tried explaining this to them, that I could not get past the submit screen, that I tried three times now, their response was, 'Oh we see the repair request right here'. Yeah, well that doesn't help ME one bit when I have no confirmation number, no address to send it to, no packing instructions, no NOTHING, now does it?

After attempting to explain THAT to the stupid bint, I got so frustrated that I told her to just cancel the repair request and hung up on them. This is the second time I've tried doing anything with the Customer Service via the telephone and have gotten nowhere.

Screw this. Other than the Customer Service, I've not had any issues with my Zune. It'd be easier to just go buy a new damn one. Which is what is going to end up happening by Thursday.

Been saying I needed an 80gig after all.

You Are a Question Mark

You seek knowledge and insight in every form possible. You love learning.

And while you know a lot, you don't act like a know it all. You're open to learning you're wrong.

You ask a lot of questions, collect a lot of data, and always dig deep to find out more.

You're naturally curious and inquisitive. You jump to ask a question when the opportunity arises.

Your friends see you as interesting, insightful, and thought provoking.

(But they're not always up for the intense inquisitions that you love!)

You excel in: Higher education

You get along best with: The Comma

Wandering... [11 Aug 2008|01:17pm]

wolfsilveroak
Walked downstairs and into the kitchen to do... something. I don't know why.

Ended up grabbing a SF Dark Chocolate pudding cup, a hair stick from the table in the living room where I've been working on ArtQuilts and watching the Olympics, and back upstairs.

And here I sit. Typing up a journal entry.

I got the windows open, the A/C off. There's a wonderful breeze blowing in the windows. It's days like this that I'd sit outside with Dante, and just enjoy it. It's just not the same sitting out there alone. Max and Aries still won't willingly come out the back door, that's Dante's domain in their minds.

2 months, 5 days.

Some days it feels like it was only yesterday that she left me, others it feels a lot longer.

This secret posted in PostScret hit me hard yesterday. (I get the syndicated feed on LJ).

I wish Dante was still here to share winks with me.

I guess I'll eat my pudding cup, go do dishes that really need it, and maybe go outside to do some gardening. Or I might end up uploaded and editing for posting the latest pics from the garden.Or maybe I'll end up doing both.

Less than thirty minutes [09 Aug 2008|09:52am]

[elfwreck]
It took less than half an hour for LJ to privatize my request about "Increased limits for Basic accounts." (I'm not surprised; they've ignored the request I made four months ago on the topic.)

http://www.livejournal.com/support/see_request.bml?id=907482 & auth =xwjk (Remove spaces to see request; IJ's coding removes auth bits otherwise). Full text:
At the announcement of the 100-day plan at http://community.livejournal.com/lj_2008/1794.html, one of the features promised was "Increase certain limits for Basic and Plus accounts." The new post in lj_2008 mentions increased userpics for Plus, but nothing about Basic accounts.

Which limits have been or will be increased for Basic accounts?
Any bets on ever getting an answer to that one? Or will it wait a few days until they release info about the new ad-supported Basic accounts, and claim that there are "increased limits" somewhere in there? (We know a lot of you have been awaiting our decision on Basic Accounts, so watch this space for an announcement August 14, 2008. Any changes to Basic Accounts will also affect how we deal with Basic Communities, so you can also expect an update on that.)

My observations.. [08 Aug 2008|08:35pm]

wolfsilveroak
[ mood | contemplative ]

Watching the Opening Ceremony of the Summer Olympics.

Say what you want about China and its policies, but they have some gorgeous ethnic costumes.

The 2008 Drummers was very cool. It's rather hard to remember to smile when you are concentrating as hard as they obviously were.

Remember, this is the Country that gave us Tai Chi and various other martial arts, calligraphy, the Great Wall, the Ming Dynesty, Confucious, paper, printing and so much more.

Yes, we need to remember Darfur. But we also need to remember the Tibetan Monks, the war still going on in Iraq, the major earthquake recently in the Szechaun Peninsula where 70,000 people died and 5 million are not homeless, the numerous other atrocities that are nearly as bad, going on still. It's not all about Darfur. I think people are losing sight of that. Yes, Darfur needs to be held up and pointed out, but so do the other people struggling with losing their identities, their homelands, and their freedoms.

Remember that as you watch the summer Olympics. Judge China not by what it has done in the past, but by what it will do in the future. After all, they've come a long way to get to this point.

Oh, and Budweiser has the best damn commercials. Just barely edging out the Visa Olympic commercials. What can I say, I love me some Clydesdales.}:P
